In June 2019, our KSV and the US soccer club San Francisco Glens entered into a partnership that was immediately filled with life. Just a few days after the contract was signed, youth coaches from our club held a summer camp for the club’s young footballers in the city of 800,000 in California. Since then, both sides have been in regular contact and visited each other. Now two Glens representatives, Executive Director Mike McNeill and U17 coach Daniel Zerabruk, took the opportunity for another meeting and traveled to the Storks’ training camp in Minnesota from Friday to Monday.
On site, the duo attended our boys’ autograph session at the Mall of America on Saturday, took part in several training sessions and exchanged ideas with our commercial director Wolfgang Schwenke and the coaching team, among others. “I can gather important impressions here to further my education, as I want to work at the highest possible level,” said Zerabruk, pleased with the productive collaboration.
McNeill also reported on the positive development of the Glens in the recent past. “We are very happy that our new training center was recently completed. This was a real milestone for us to be able to continue to train young talent at the highest level,” reported the Executive Director of our partner club, which has around 1,400 members and, like our KSV, places great value on its own youth work. “We are now not only one of the best training clubs in the country for men, but have also developed very talented female players. We want to continue on this path,” continued McNeill.
Next up for a delegation from the Bay Area club is a visit to London’s professional clubs Tottenham Hotspur, Queens Park Rangers and Charlton Athletic. The next meeting with our KSV is already planned – but then again on German rather than American soil. With this in mind: See you soon, San Francisco Glens!
